Yesterday was the International Day of the African Child, since it was initiated in 1991 by the Organisation of African Unity(Now African Union),The day is marked in recognition of the day when,in 1976,thousands of black school children in Soweto,South Africa took to the streets.
Childrens were protesting the discriminatory nature and inferior quality of the education available to them under the apartheid regime. Most children in africa are directly involved in deliberations on issues like HIV/AIDS,Global econony downturn,Africa's Development Challenges, some are subjected to prostitution, forced to be marriage, exposed to violence and have no access to education!!!.
SO HOW THE AFRICAN CHILD CAN GET HOPE??????? The theme was Right to Participate: Let Children be seen and Heard do we real know about this in our african communities???
