  1. looking at our african background, i have some reservations for this. the issue of child labour is controversial in that we tend to work on one type of school of thought and definition. we rely on the western way of looking at what child labour is. as most of us who grew up in both rural areas and semi-urban areas we were in one way or another compelled to help parents in different chores such as cattle herding, fetching water, milking etc. these forms of chores would undoubtedly be categorised as child labour by west-educated graduates ( by west doesn't necessarily entail one was physically in one of europe and american colleges. even mentally that is what it means).

i would call child labour as such if and only if it interferes greatly on child's schooling. but if it is meant to let the child have hands-on apprenticeship on something i would beg to have another opinion.
